Written by Sara Loeffelholz

Children’s Medical Center of Dallas warmly welcomed Nicholas Sparks, Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel to Seacrest Studios Tuesday evening. The best-selling author and actors were in town promoting Safe Haven, an adaptation of Spark’s novel that stars Hough and Duhamel. The three visited with patients and their families, participated in a brief television interview, signed autographs, and made time for singing and dancing in the studio. Check out the video below to see the in studio dance party!

Safe Haven is the eighth book written by Sparks that has been turned into a film. While Sparks, Duhamel and Hough discussed the movie, they eagerly answered a variety of questions from patients and Seacrest Studio staff. When asked how he felt about his books being adapted to films, Sparks said he had always hoped his novels would become movies but never planned on it happening. Sparks said he is pleased with his career as an author and cannot imagine becoming a movie director after spending sufficient time on movie sets.

Hough admitted to being a huge fan of Sparks before she decided to take on the role of Katie in Safe Haven. The actress said A Walk to Remember was her favorite novel by Sparks. When asked what she would do if she was not an actress, Hough said she would want to be a hair and makeup artist. She spoke passionately about a foundation she is working with called Kind Campaign, that promotes self-confidence in girls and focuses on anti-bullying.

Duhamel will be hosting Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on March 23. He said he worked closely with child actors in the making of Safe Haven, and he enjoys working with children. He said they are fun to work with, and they bring a special light to the acting world.

Hough and Duhamel wrapped up their evening at Children’s Medical Center watching patients sing along to their favorite Taylor Swift and Rhianna songs. They literally danced their way out of the studio, leaving lots of smiling faces behind.

Many thanks to Julianne, Josh and Nicholas for making it a very fun (and entertaining) evening in studio!
