Seacrest Studios Opens At Children’s National in Washington, D.C.

The Ryan Seacrest Foundation is thrilled to open Seacrest Studios today at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C.  We are so excited to share this broadcast media center with the patients and their families, and we hope it contributes positively to their healing process.

To celebrate the launch of our ninth Seacrest Studios, we invited our friends Lucy Hale, Cam, Katie Ledecky and Robin Thicke to help Ryan with the first broadcast.

In addition to spending time with the patients, Cam entertained the crowd with her acoustic rendition of Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson‘s “Uptown Funk.” During her live performance, the country singer-songwriter tossed to Robin, who triggered laughter with his vocal improvisation of the track’s funky beat.

RSF ambassador Nick Jonas, who is busy promoting his Future Now tour with Demi Lovato, was unable to attend the ceremony, but he made sure to send his love via Twitter.

Stay tuned for updates throughout the day, or follow along on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be a part of the fun!

Robin Thicke Answers Patient Questions At Seacrest Studios

Video Recap by: Seacrest Studios Intern, Kelsey Dalzell
Written Recp by: Seacrest Studios Intern, Andrea Hammer

Robin Thicke made a special visit to Seacrest Studios at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The studio filled with patients eager to meet the singer, who shook the hands of everyone in the room upon entering. After a short interview including a rapid-fire game of Robin Thicke’s favorite things, he answered questions from patients in the room before signing autographs and taking pictures.

We learned that Robin Thicke prefers mustard to ketchup, peanut butter chocolate ice cream, and even got some words of wisdom from the star. Robin’s piece of advice for a successful career: “Find something that you love…there are jobs for everybody out there that you can actually enjoy doing.”

It was wonderful having Robin in studio and we hope to see him again soon!

Robin Thicke Sings Along With A Patient At Seacrest Studios

Patients were very excited to welcome Robin Thicke to Seacrest Studios, when he took a  break from his Blurred Lines concert tour to stop by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  The studio was packed with fans of all ages who listened closely as Robin talked about life on tour, making music, and his biggest hits.

Robin started out the interview by reminiscing on just how he got started in the music business, which was by teaching himself how to play songs from the radio on his piano. He shared that some of his favorite artists growing up included Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder.

Robin also admitted that his hit “Blurred Lines” was written and recorded with his friend and fellow musician Pharrell Williams in just an hour and a half. He talked about how much the hit means to him and said “when you write songs that make people want to get up and dance, you feel really great about it.”

At one point in the interview, one lucky patient who called into Seacrest Studio from her room got the opportunity to sing along with Robin to the song  “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” by The Temptations.

Robin even shared one of his most embarrassing moments on tour, which was when he fell off stage! He had the whole audience laughing when he described how the stage, located in Manchester England, was only ten feet long and that he landed “like a cat” before having to climb back on stage.

He didn’t just talk about music, though. Robin also shared his love of sports and mentioned that his favorite teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bears. In addition to his favorite teams, Robin told listeners that his favorite color is red, his favorite seafood is lobster, and that his favorite subject in school was history because he loved “to see how the world developed.”

Robin gave some inspirational words of advice as well to a patient who asked how he handled stressful situations. “We have to take it minute by minute, hour by hour in life,” he said while reminding patients to appreciate the little things.

Before the end of the interview, Robin made sure to give everyone at Seacrest Studios an update on his next album and said that he plans to head back into the studios after he is finished touring. No word yet about what the sound of this next album will be like, but Robin did share that he hopes to make a pop, a soul and even a country album at some point in his career!

Everyone had a blast hanging out with Robin Thicke, both during his interview and afterwards when he signed autographs and took pictures with fans.  Thanks for a great time Robin and we hope you come and visit again!

CHOC Patients attend KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball!

There were smiles filling up the Staples Center, as Children Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) patients Robert and Lorena, along with their guests, got a VIP experience at the annual holiday showcase. Performing their biggest hits of the year, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone, New Politics, Travie McCoy, Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and Fifth Harmony WOW-ed the crowd, and even made time to meet some of their biggest fans before hitting the stage.

Robert and Lorena were first in line, posing for photos with the X-Factor stars: Fifth Harmony. Selena Gomez then extended open arms, calming the star-struck group with her sweet disposition and friendly conversation. Miley Cyrus shook hands with the patients, showing her silly side in photos, and reminding everyone to stay through the whole show to see her performance. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis made their way backstage, giving each fan the opportunity to pose for a photo in between the dynamic duo. CHOC patient, Robert, greeted Ariana Grande, complimenting her angelic outfit by saying, “you look like you should be at the top of a Christmas tree.”

The high-energy night was topped off with a visit from Ryan Seacrest himself, shaking hands with just a few of the people that his foundation has touched.

You can find all the great pictures and video from this truly special night on KIIS’s FM’s website!

Thank you to everyone at KIIS FM for making it such a memorable night!
