All Time Low Makes Another Visit to Seacrest Studios!

What a better distraction for the patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia than some games with All Time Low! The band was a hit at the hospital during their pit stop before their big show, melting the hearts of patients (and some of our interns) with their comradery and playful demeanor.

Diving into a game of “All Time Trivia,” each member was quizzed with “easy” questions about their own band. We quickly witnessed little success and hilarious consequences (just check out what the kids made them wear for wrong answers). When asked about their lengthy journey together, perhaps Alex Gaskarth gave away the best secret of all to their success, “we grew up on the road…stay creative and stay driven.” Keep it up, guys!

Thanks for visiting Seacrest Studios, All Time Low! We can’t wait to have you back.

Issac Brown and Sky Katz Bring Laughter to Kids at CHOC Children’s!

Recently Issac Brown (“Booker”) and Sky Katz (“Tess”) from Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home came to visit Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital of Orange County and brought smiles, laughter and energy to patients and families alike. Both of the stars spoke about their life on set as well as their favorite things to do when they aren’t acting. Patients talked about their favorite episodes of the show and shared their favorite character on the show as well.

Issac shared that one of his favorite bloopers is when the entire cast spits at different times and Sky shared to her favorite blooper is when someone got hit by a door on set by accident.

Both shared their favorite characters on TV and Issac loves none other than Edna Mode from the Incredibles and Black Panther.

Sky and Issac ended the visit with photos and autographs for the patients and family members that were in studio during the visit. Thank you to Issac and Sky for visiting Seacrest Studios at CHOC Children’s!

Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers, Visits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta!

And the winner is….

Seacrest Studios at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta! We scored big time with a visit from the beautiful and talented, Miss USA 2018, Sarah Rose Summers! Just two moths into her reign as Miss USA, Sarah Rose felt right at home in a hospital setting – a place she’d become familiar with earlier in her career as a certified Child Life Specialist. She was an instant favorite among patients and families.

She encouraged questions from the audience, citing it was “practice” for her upcoming Miss Universe pageant in December, and for the “talent portion” of the visit, Sarah Rose promptly volunteered to learn – and participate in –  the popular dance move coined “the floss” with an excited patient.

Many pictures, autographs, hugs and smiles later Sarah Rose is headed back to NYC. Thank you so much for visiting Seacrest Studios a second time! We are honored you want to visit all ten, and cannot wait to cheer you on in the Miss Universe pageant!

Sabrina Carpenter Makes Her 9th Appearance in Seacrest Studios!

With bright eyes, an ear-to-ear smile and a tucked in Topanga shirt, Sabrina Carpenter entered Seacrest Studios at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Sabrina, an ambassador for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, is a seasoned pro in visits at Seacrest Studios, having visited eight of ten studios across the country.

Patients and families in the studio instantly felt at ease with the actress and musician, jumping right in to the interview with pressing questions.

“Who is your favorite superhero?” one fan intently asked.

After a brief moment we learned the young star is “enamored by all of them, but really likes Spiderman.”

On trend, another patient asked Sabrina her all-time favorite movie. Although it is difficult to name just one, Sabrina narrowed her favorite down to Across the Universe, a musical inspired by the Beatles.

In advice to fans, Sabrina noted you are never too young to follow your passions. At just six years old she began singing, and at age eleven she had her first acting gig on Law and Order SVU. She was hooked. With inspirations like Christina Aguilera in her life Sabrina shared the most important part of her career was her education. To any patients in the hospital with similar aspirations she said, “I was always reading and writing stories, songs and poems, and drawing pictures. Any kind of self-expression is how you separate yourself from everyone else.” Start there, and the rest will fall into place.

Her wise words did not stop there. When you’re on the road, dealing with social media, and far away from home life can get tough; and in the hospital patients and families may experience similar feelings. We asked Sabrina what she does on the cloudier days, and received some advice universal to any situation:

“Take a deep breath and think about the things you are grateful for. Even in moments when you think everything is going wrong, think about the little things. Be grateful for those around you, for waking up, and for the big and small things that put life into perspective.”

Sabrina, we are blessed to have you as an RSF ambassador. Thank you for hopping off a stage in downtown Nashville, and immediately visiting kids in the hospital. You have brightened the day of so many fans in Seacrest Studios, and we could not be more grateful for your giving heart!

American Idol Winner, Maddie Poppe, Stops by Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital Colorado

Written recap and slider-cam operator: Kayce Wilson, Seacrest Studios Intern
Kid Question Mic: Anna Pavlakovich, Seacrest Studios Intern

Maddie Poppe, American Idol winner, visited the Seacrest Studio at Children’s Hospital Colorado before the Denver show of the American Idol Live! tour. The kids asked questions about everything from amusement park rides, ice cream flavors and eating contests. Carol asked about her upcoming music and she said her next album should be released within the next year.

Maddie brought along American Idol runner-up, Caleb Hutchinson, and they sang a cover of James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend” together. During the traditional BBOY45 game of Backwards Forwards, Maddie was challenged to say the title of her newest single “Going Going Gone” and the phrase “Caleb Lee Hutchinson is cute.” Before taking pictures and signing autographs, Maddie left us with some inspiring words of wisdom, “Always be yourself and always do what makes you the happiest.”

Big thanks to Maddie and Caleb for coming to see us at Children’s Hospital Colorado!

Halsey Inspires Fans at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital!

Photographer Credit:

Without a doubt Halsey is incredible with people. She takes their dreams, wishes, trials and tribulations and bears them as her own; and we witnessed this firsthand when she visited patients and families in Seacrest Studios at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Prior to her evening show at Ascend Amphitheater, Halsey stopped by Seacrest Studios. She was greeted with a warm welcome from a studio full of excited fans. Upstairs, eyes glued to the TV, sat Olivia: a big Halsey fan unable to leave her room for the visit. Anxiously waiting for the on-air segment to begin, Olivia called down from her room with a thought-provoking question for Halsey: “What’s your most embarrassing moment ever?” Following a slight giggle through the phone we received an answer from Halsey that changed the course of the entire visit. A few years back Halsey was performing live when her wig fell off. This moment caused a ripple effect in the artists’ life, changing her perspective on appearances. Following that show, she shaved all her hair off. For a year and a half the musician went without hair, noting how cool and proud of herself she felt for embracing her true self with her beautiful bald head forefront. Upstairs, an instantly inspired little girl – with a once bald head as well – felt at peace.

Curious fans then asked Halsey about her show prep for her upcoming downtown concert. She explained the preparation changes per city, but she always allots time to sit back and think “What do I want to get out of today? What do I want to walk off stage and feel? Do I want to feel proud of myself today? Do I want to feel like I’ve learned something new today, or feel like I made someone else happy today?” Halsey, you made an entire hospital full of people happy, and your pre-show thoughts offer the perfect advice to patients who may be going through a tough time.

The chart dominating artist may sing about being Bad at Love, but we beg to differ! Halsey, you have brought so much love to countless fans at children’s hospitals, and we could not be more grateful for you! Thank you for making Seacrest Studios in Nashville a stop on your world tour. We cannot wait to see you again soon!

A “Glee” Filled Visit With Darren Criss!

The end of June brought a big visit to Seacrest Studios at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta!  Darren Criss, most notable as Blaine from Fox’s hit series “Glee”, came to chat with patients, play a fun game, and take pictures and sign autographs.

Darren is actually touring alongside fellow “Glee” cast member Lea Michele – the pair performed at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center following his visit at Seacrest Studios!

One special patient, Sarah, played Jimmy Fallon’s “Whisper Challenge” with Darren. Hi wore headphones, listening to really loud music, while she mouthed Disney quotes, and he had to guess what she was saying.

Patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta loved having Darren in studio, and we hope he returns soon!

Miss USA Celebrates 4th of July with Patients at Children’s National!

According to Miss USA 2018, Sarah Rose Summers, this was the best 4th of July yet! She spent her entire evening at Children’s National, kicking off her visit in Seacrest Studios. Patients came prepared for the interview by asking her an array of questions. We even had a studio wide sing-a-long where we belted out a popular song on-air! Following our special on-air segment, we transitioned from the studio up to our outdoor Healing Garden where the party was just starting! Sarah Rose led a dance party with patients to the Cha Cha Slide, posed for photos with superheroes, took advantage of the face painting station, and created awesome crafts with patients. At the end of the night, we enjoyed the fireworks show where we could see fireworks from Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia! When the party was winding down, one patient said “I don’t want this night to end… I hope Miss USA comes back to visit”. It was a memorable July 4th for everyone at Children’s National!

Can Shazam Beat Carly Pearce in Music Knowledge?

Written blog by Seacrest Studios intern Hannah Slater
Video by Seacrest Studios interns Scotty Gavlin and Carly Thomas

Country music singer Carly Pearce, who recently won a CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year, stopped by Seacrest Studios in Charlotte on Friday, June 15! We wanted the patients to get to know Carly a little better, so we started her visit off with some questions to try and learn some fun facts about her. We learned a lot, including the fact that Carly LOVES sweet mint gum, kale, and brussel sprouts!

Next we let Carly answer some questions asked by patients in the hospital. We found out that her favorite Disney character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast (she dressed up as Belle 5 years in a row for Halloween!), and Carly even got up to dance when asked what her favorite dance move was. Those dance moves were impressive!

After playing a game where Carly had to try and guess country songs before Shazam could, we quickly discovered that not even an app could guess country songs before her. She can, however, be stumped by Disney silhouettes when playing, “Guess that Disney Character!”

Carly finished her visit by giving a patient that was discharging a special send-off that ended in a big hug. She’s currently touring with Rascal Flatts and Dan + Shay, but we can’t wait to have Carly back in the studio for more games and trivia!
