Andrew McMahon Visits Patients at Cincinnati Children's

Seacrest Studio at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center welcomed singer/songwriter and leukemia survivor Andrew McMahon on Friday. The visit began with a montage looking back on McMahon’s career throughout the past 15 years. He has been a part of the bands: Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin and more recently, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. He is also known for being the founder of the Dear Jack Foundation, which raises money to support young adults fighting cancer. The foundation was something McMahon said he was very adamant about starting due to his battle with leukemia when he was 22 years old.
McMahon graciously opened the floor to any questions from the crowd and was very open about his past fighting cancer and living in hospitals. We learned his favorite Disney movie is Aladdin, and that the piano is the only instrument he has mastered! Following the interview, McMahon took part in games where he had to listen to a clip of music and name the song or artist, often times with help from the children. Upon signing off the show, he also gave an encouraging message to the patients in the hospital reminding them to keep cool, remain brave, and to always think of what you have to look forward to in the future. Wrapping up his visit, McMahon signed autographs and took pictures with the patients and their families. We were so lucky to have Andrew stop in, and cannot thank him enough for his visit.
