Seacrest Studios at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center was thrilled to welcome Team USA gymnast, Aly Raisman, to the studio.
Aly has been traveling around the country with her teammates on the 2016 Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions. When they stopped in Cincinnati, patients like Jess, Raylen, and Athena, got the chance to hang out with Aly in studio!
We got to know a lot about Aly during her on-air interview here at WKID. She told us that before she started gymnastics, her favorite sport was soccer, and her dad was even her coach. She started practicing gymnastics at the age of two, and when she turned eight she realized that gymnastics was something she wanted to pursue at a high level. Aly told caller, Maleeah, that her favorite gymnastics event is the floor exercise because she loves tumbling. But her second favorite event is the balance beam.
Co-hosts Raylen and his mom asked Aly how she stays motivated. Her advice is to find something that you love to do, and do it everyday. “I think everyone was put on this earth for a reason, so everyone has a different passion for something,” she explained. She also contributes her motivation and success to the support of her parents. Aly shared some advice for our kids in the hospital to help get through bad days. “I think we’re all our biggest critic… I like to start my morning with saying three nice things about myself. I think that kind of brightens up the day, brightens up the mood.”
Aly is not only a gymnast, she is also a designer, and has her own collection of socks and leotards. She said her favorite designs are always patriotic. Emma and Aniston called the studio and asked Aly what she likes to do when she takes a break from her busy schedule. She said outside the gym, she can be found spending time with her two dogs, swimming, and hanging out with her family and friends.
Aly played a rapid-fire game of “This or That” with her co-hosts, where we found out that she prefers dogs over cats, the ocean over a pool, coffee over tea, chocolate over vanilla, and the summer over the winter. She was also nice enough to stick around and play some Disney trivia with Talayha and McKinley. Afterwards, she kindly signed autographs and took photos with patients. Everyone at CCHMC really enjoyed our visit with Aly Raisman.
Thanks again, Aly, and good luck with everything you do!
