Cincinnati Patient Sings with Jessica Darrow!
Written & hosted by Seacrest Studios intern, Alexa Figueroa
On the surface, patients in Seacrest Studios at Children’s National Hospital tried to play it cool, but as soon as actress Jessica Darrow appeared on screen, the giggles and smiles erupted like a volcano.
Tuning in from all around the country, the Encanto star spoke to patients, families and staff at Children’s National Hospital, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Levine Children's Hospital, CHOC Children’s, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Children’s Hospital Colorado.
In the popular Disney movie, Jessica voices the character Luisa who is known for her super-strength and breaking down body stereotypes! Her character sings the hit song, "Surface Pressure," which has been featured on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Fans at Children’s National Hospital didn’t have Bieber fever, but they did have purple hair fever. Jessica, or “DJ Strong Sis”, received the green light to dye her hair purple from DJ Chameleon!
After swooning over hairstyles, patients got the scoop on Jessica’s favorite part of filming Encanto, if there will be an Encanto 2 and her favorite part of “Surface Pressure!” Spoiler Alert! DJ Strong Sis hasn’t heard anything about Encanto 2, but we are all waiting at the edge of our seats for the news.
All patients tuning in through Seacrest Studios watched a special duet of “Surface Pressure” between Jessica and Cincinnati Children's Hospital patient, Jackson.
Just like her character in Encanto, Jessica represents strength and vulnerability. She gave patients a powerful tip, reminding them to put love into the community and to not be afraid to ask for help from loved ones. Jessica finds that when she is in times of need or questioning herself, all the love she puts into her community finds a way back to her!
Thank you, Jessica, for showing us that it’s okay to let down your guard and to not carry the weight of the world on our shoulders!
