CMT Films Hot 20 Countdown With Dustin Lynch In Seacrest Studios
Written by Seacrest Studios Program Manager, Mamie Shepherd
It was Lights, Camera, Action in Seacrest Studios Nashville when CMT Radio and CMT Hot 20 Countdown brought country music star, Dustin Lynch, to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt! CMT host, Cody Alan, was on hand to help ask Dustin the hard-hitting questions our patients wanted to know about. Dustin and Cody have actually shared good times together before. They have a long-standing friendship that includes swimming with dolphins for a CMT video shoot!
Fresh off the release of a new EP, “Ridin’ Roads,” Dustin told patients who had gathered to meet him that these new songs were a “good sample of what is to come.” He also said he wanted to have new music to perform for his summer shows — he’ll be on the “Very Hot Summer Tour" with Thomas Rhett! Did you know that Dustin and Thomas went to college together?!
Dustin explained that, as a child, he was outside all of the time. At his farm, they had horses and even a pet…turkey! When asked about what he would be doing if he weren’t in music, Dustin said his plan was to be a surgeon – he even went to medical school!
After performing two of his biggest hits, “Cowboys and Angels” (a song written about his grandparents’ love story) and “Good Girl” (which he just celebrated going #1), Dustin was asked by a patient what makes him proud. He said that he followed his passion and did what he wanted to do in life despite doubts from other people. What a great message for our patients and their families to hear!
He may just be a “Small Town Boy,” but we think Dustin’s new music is “Where It’s At.” Thanks Dustin, and CMT, for a fantastic visit!
