Children's National Welcomes Delta Rae to Seacrest Studios!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Our friends, Delta Rae, stopped by Seacrest Studios at Children’s National and we enjoyed every minute of their visit! Patients and families greeted the band with a warm, D.C. welcome and were so excited to ask them questions on-air. The interview started with each band member introducing themselves and creating their DJ name. Vocalist and pianist, Eric Holljes, wanted to be called DJ Polar Bear. Brittany Holljes, another vocalist for the band, came up with DJ B-Sting and second female vocalist, Elizabeth Hopkins, chose DJ Mermaid as her on-air name. Bass Guitarist, Grant Emerson, laughed and called himself DJ Goatman. Ian Holljes, vocalist and guitarist chose DJ Layla in accordance with his puppy named Layla. Percussionist, Mike McKee, made the audience laugh when he reluctantly chose the name DJ Baldmen.
After coming up with their awesome DJ names, the band took us through a vocal warm-up that they do before they go on stage. Patients and families tried the warm up but found themselves laughing too hard! When asked about how the band formed, Eric said simply, “Me, Brittany, and Ian are siblings who also happen to really love music so that was easy for us to come together. We have known Mike and Liz for a long time, so we asked them to join the band shortly after. Then we met Grant and instantly knew we would have a great group”! After a great interview on the mics, the band signed autographs and took photos with each patient and their family! Thank you, Grant, Liz, Brittany, Eric, Ian and Mike, for making our day at Children’s National a little brighter and we hope to see you the next time you’re in Washington D.C!
