Seacrest Studios at CHOP Turns Double Digits!

Seacrest Studios at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia celebrated its 10th birthday on Thursday, July 15th! The celebration kicked off with live interviews from WWE stars Dana Brooke and Drew McIntyre. Patients asked questions and learned all about their journeys in WWE wrestling! 

After the interview, the “Hole in The Wall Gang” hosted a variety game show with Pictionary, Guess the Song, and other patient favorite games. Of course, it couldn't be a birthday without treats - throughout the day a treat cart with popcorn provided by Eat Snack Pop, juice, and birthday hats traveled around the hospital for patients and families to enjoy while partaking in studio activities from bedside. 

At 1 O’clock the hospital played its favorite game - Birthday Bingo! Studio staff led patients through a birthday-themed Bingo game where they could win prizes and learn all about what the studio has to offer. Next up Seacrest Studios had a special surprise for everyone - an exclusive live virtual interview with multiplatinum recording artist and actress Selena Gomez! The star answered questions about her new music, favorite songs, and time on set from some of her famous shows and movies. This was a full circle moment for Philadelphia, as Selena Gomez helped open their studio back in 2011 and came by to visit again in 2015!  Once this visit came to an end our patients wrapped up the day with a bedside dance party and a studio swag giveaway. 

They were later joined by friends from “Hot Hot Hot Entertainment” as they played some of the greatest dance party tracks for patients to groove to and collect swag that included, water bottles, book-bags, hats and more! During the dance party, special guests “Freestyle Dance Academy” showed some of their hottest break dance moves live from the atrium space. As the celebration continued, some of our studio favorite celebrities stopped by virtually to send Happy Birthday wishes like, The Philadelphia Eagles, Q102 Radio Host, and of course a special birthday shout-out from Ryan Seacrest!  

The event was a truly unforgettable experience for patients, their families and the staff. Because of CHOP's incredible community, Seacrest Studios celebrated many milestones on its 10th birthday. The studio has released over 13,000 hours of LIVE programming including 13 original shows which were created and produced by studio staff. It trains college students year-round in the production of these programs and has graduated over 160 interns! Community partners are also a big part in allowing the studio to operate every day, and the CHOP studio is proud to have worked with over 10+ community partners since its creation!
